Lines and patterns

Our next exercise was to draw using your pencil taped to the end of a long stick.
I found this very calming.

We then had to choose a small section of your drawing, trace onto paper, photocopy and join together. Really happy with results.

Workshop

More exercises from Dionne Swift Drawing for Textile workshop.
Arrange a group of objects and draw, using a 30cm ruler and different markers.

Drawing for Textile

Started an on line course Drawing for Textile with Dionne Swift.
First lesson, continious line. After arranging a group of objects, we had to draw them without taking your pencil from the paper and not looking at what you were drawing. I used pencil, felt tip pen and charcoal.

Log cabin style quilting

Log cabin quilting is very relaxing once you get going, your piece grows very quickly.
In class this week, we used our indigo dyed fabric to begin our log cabin style deisgn.

I am adding some hand stitching- work in progress!!

I also have some fabric paper that I made a while ago, I experimented using the log cabin style design.
I am adding some hand stitching, love the texture that is developing.

Eucalyptus

This week I wrapped Eucalyptus leaves in cotton and placed in steamer, left for an hour and when dried, I added machine and hand stitch to the print. To finish I hand stitched dried - very delicate - honesty leaves to the fabric. The colours of the honesty leaves seemed to match the eucalyptus print.
