Red Fabric Day
Really enjoyed making my own fabric today. My inspiration was my art work from the Dionne Swift 'Drawing for Textile' course. Starting with a piece of cream wool fabric, I embellished with merino wool top, creating lines, which developed into more shapes. I added hand stitch and added fabric paper to produce a lovely peice of fabric art.
Rose Leaf Print
Decided to try a little fabric dyeing, so yesterday I soaked a peice of cotton in a dye bath of wind fallen conker shells. The fabric turned out a shade of orange. Not really happy with fabric so thought I would wrap some rose leaves and rose petals in the fabric and leave it overnight in the dye bath. The result is now drying on the washing line.

Lines
Being aware of the different lines that are around us.
Observing curve, straight, zig zag lines.
How lines join and patterns emerge.

Summer Printing with Nature
What a lovely relaxing day in the sun I have had today. I have printed on paper using acrylic paint, fern and maple leaves.
I also enjoyed some free drawing with charcoal.

Long Stitches
It's a very sunny evening here in Yorkshire, decided to add some stitches to a previously screen printed peice of cotton. The long stitches are adding texture, really happy with results so far.

Relaxing stitching
Thank you for visiting my blog.
I have been experimenting with screen printing.
After screen printing my design onto fabric, |I have added hand and machine stitch, I like the textures that are developing.

Lines and patterns
Our next exercise was to draw using your pencil taped to the end of a long stick.
I found this very calming.
We then had to choose a small section of your drawing, trace onto paper, photocopy and join together. Really happy with results.

Drawing for Textile
Started an on line course Drawing for Textile with Dionne Swift.
First lesson, continious line. After arranging a group of objects, we had to draw them without taking your pencil from the paper and not looking at what you were drawing. I used pencil, felt tip pen and charcoal.

Log cabin style quilting
Log cabin quilting is very relaxing once you get going, your piece grows very quickly.
In class this week, we used our indigo dyed fabric to begin our log cabin style deisgn.
I am adding some hand stitching- work in progress!!
I also have some fabric paper that I made a while ago, I experimented using the log cabin style design.
I am adding some hand stitching, love the texture that is developing.

Eucalyptus
This week I wrapped Eucalyptus leaves in cotton and placed in steamer, left for an hour and when dried, I added machine and hand stitch to the print. To finish I hand stitched dried - very delicate - honesty leaves to the fabric. The colours of the honesty leaves seemed to match the eucalyptus print.
